WHY STAINLESS STEEL?
Its corrosion resistance and high strength characteristics afford advantages over many other materials.
Stainless steel resists corrosion. It remains strong and ductile even at extreme temperature ranges. It has
an attractive appearance and is well suited for architectural or mechanical applications where appearance
and strength are required.
This quality, pressure grade, welded tubing is held to close tolerance uniformity. The flat rolled stainless steel is received in coils, highly accurate to gage and strip width, with a fine surface condition representative of the rolling procedure. In the forming processs it is fed continuously through a series of highly polished rolls which form the proper diameter when the edges are butted together. The Polished Stainless Steel Tubing For Transport leaves the forming rolls, enters pressure rollers, is welded and finally precision sized.
Welded by the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) process, no filler rod or any additional metal is used to complete the weld. This assures the weld is the same composition as the par-ent 316L alloy of the tubing itself. Constant "In Process" inspection ensures a quality product it is then "In-Line Annealed" through an induction coil and water cooled to Rockwell hardness of B90 maximum. After the tubing passes through straightening rollers it is passivated. Dirt, grease and iron impurities which may have been deposited during manufacture are removed, leaving an inert clean surface.
Polished Stainless Steel Tubing For Transport is thoroughly tested for leakage utilizing an Eddy-Current, non-destructive test method which assures the finished product to be of uniform strength throughout. Testing over the years has proved welded tubing to be uniform and reliable. Destructive tests consistently show the weld area to be as strong or stronger than the tube itself.
